"Pakistani Truck"

Cultural Bridges

2004—2008  (16 months) hand applique, hand embroidered, machine quilted

In Pakistan there are 350,000 commercial trucks which are hand decorated with famous places, animals, flowers and birds. The cabs are rebuilt using hand carved wood.

This quilt "Pakistani Truck" honors the concept that it is possible for traditional arts and culture to create bridges between people.

"Just Wing It"

A Garden Song

2003—2004  (13 months)
machine pieced, hand appliqued, hand embroidered, mashine quilted

Hummingbirds are the acrobats of the avian world. They can dart, dive, hover, fly backwards and upside down.

Their flight patterns are like music written in the air.

To me they represent freedom and the triumph of agility over size.

"Trees of Life"

Nature Unites Time

2001—2002  (5 months)
machine sewn, hand embroidered machine quilted

No matter how often people move to strange places, plants have a reassuring presence.

Quilt "Trees of Life" symbolizes life changes being united by the common element of the natural environment.

Each leaf represents a time and place in my life.

"Patrick's Quilt"

A Request

1998 (2 months)
machine sewn, machine quilted

When a teenage son requests a "Mum" Quilt for his 16th birthday…Mum makes a quilt! and she is delighted. When he gives her 1 month warning…he gets it late.
